Grant Amato ‘unable To Function’ Without Cam Girl Before Family’s Slaying, Letter Shows
Police say he stole $200,000 to send to a Bulgarian woman he met on a porn site. Excerpts form a letter written by Grant Amato to an online community whom he shared a relationship with a cam girl in the months before his father, mother and brother were killed. Jason Amato told police that his brother had sent the Bulgarian woman more than $200,000 in a three-month period. But he said he had spoken to his mother on January 16 and she said everything was OK and Grant was applying for work. Jason Amato also told detectives he was aware that his brother had stolen $150,000 from his parents, including a $65,000 loan on the house, and had taken $50,000 from Chad Amato. A Florida man is accused of killing his family after stealing $200,000 from them and wiring the cash to a Bulgarian cam girl, according to a report.
- Jason Amato also told detectives he was aware that his brother had stolen $150,000 from his parents, including a $65,000 loan on the house, and had taken $50,000 from Chad Amato.
- Amato was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his mother, Margaret Amato, 61; father, Chad Amato, 59; and brother, Cody Amato, 31, the sheriff’s office said.
- I put my portfolio up, and I started getting contacted by a lot of porn agents… It goes to show that you should question what you have been taught in life.
- Grant Amato‘s family created a list of rules he would have to follow in order to continue living in their home.
Investigators say he violated the rules and killed his parents and brothers after they tried to kick him out. “My father is controlling and abusive, my mother is simply around for the security, and my brother is also controlling and does not understand how I could care for someone as much as I care for Silvie,” Amato wrote in an apology letter to his friends. When he got home, his parents told him he couldn’t speak to his online girlfriend, but Amato told investigators he disregarded the rule.

Before his Jan. 28 arrest, Amato sought access to the online porn community group again, according to his letter. Amato then shot his mother, father and brother execution-style at their Chuluota home in January, prosecutors said. Grant Amato, 29, was arrested Monday and charged with the murders of his parents and brother, who were found dead in their Chuluota home over the weekend, Orlando’s News6 reported. “When questioned about why he still would not follow up to check on his family, he replied, ‘I just didn’t want to know,” police said.
Videos and pictures of the woman were presented during the testimony of Geraldine Blay, a Seminole County Sheriff’s Office forensic investigator who processed several electronic devices found in the family’s Sultan Circle home shortly after the Jan. 24 killings. Amato’s lawyers, Jeff Dowdy and Jared Shapiro, have argued that no physical evidence ties their client to the killings. Earlier this month Amato’s lawyers filed a motion to suppress all evidence found in the family’s home, claiming that it was obtained as a result of an illegal search when the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office performed a welfare check and discovered the bodies. A spokeswoman for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday said investigators have not interviewed Ventsislavova, whom Amato had also called “Silvie” in other letters.

Grant Amato stared intently at the screen as pictures of the woman he loved were presented. Amato has pleaded not guilty to the killings and is being held in the Seminole County Jail on a $750,000 bond, though he’s forbidden from using funds from his parents’ estate. The records also included photos from a trip to Japan Cody Amato and Grant Amato made with a friend in December, showing the group walking through Tokyo’s Shinjuku neighborhood and visiting the Kinkaku-ji golden temple in Kyoto. The records also included screenshots of USAA bank transactions, showing more than $1,000 in withdrawals for tokens to use on the adult website where they met. Though Grant Amato initially agreed, his father later found out his son was still talking with Ventisislavova, causing a fight on Jan. 24 at the family’s Chuluota home on Sultan Circle. Chad Amato’s rules for his son were handwritten on two pages of paper, copies of which were included in Wednesday’s records release.

“My father is controlling and abusive, my mother is simply around for the security and my brother is also controlling and does not understand how I could care for someone as much as I care for Silvie,” Grant Amato wrote. “I’m asking you if you can please, pretty please, send me one of your videos. I love it so much when you just send them to me,” Amato said in a video. The family knew Amato was in touch with the woman and wiring her large amounts of cash, which worried his mother, Margaret Amato, 61, the report said. The officers learned that Amato had been accused of committing grand theft at the hospital. Staff told the officers that on June 19, eight unordered empty vials of Propofol, worth $258.38 per vial for a total of $2,067.04, were found in two rooms under Amato’s care. The hospital’s pharmacist found that Amato had taken the Propofol and put it into his pocket.
